This cherished event is more than just a run—it’s a celebration that benefits several local organizations, including Ocracoke Community Radio WOVV, the Ocracoke School Athletic Boosters Club, and the Ocracoke Community Park. Participants will have the opportunity to race through the charming, historic neighborhoods of Ocracoke Village, taking in scenic views of Ocracoke Harbor and passing by the nation’s second oldest lighthouse still in continuous service. The course is predominantly flat, making it accessible and enjoyable for runners of all abilities.
Runners and visitors alike will appreciate the convenience of local accommodations, all within easy walking or biking distance to the start and finish lines. For those who prefer not to walk, bike and golf cart rentals are available, and limited parking is offered near the race area. The event recognizes achievement with awards for the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three finishers in each age group.
After crossing the finish line, all are invited to join the post-race celebration at 1718 Brewery.. The party features entertainment and local brews, creating a festive atmosphere for both runners and spectators. With its blend of community spirit, beautiful vistas, and fun activities, the Ocracoke Island 5K/10K promises an engaging and memorable experience for everyone involved.
